THE PROJECT
One of the reasons I started a blog was because of 1000 journals. A project involving one thousand journals being passed around the world, it is a means of interaction between strangers and an outlet for creativity. You would think that web blogs would render such projects obsolete, but on the contrary, these snail mail book projects have prolifirated, with eager participants worldwide.
I have signed on to receive one of many books, but in the past couple of years since I first read of these travelling journals, I have yet to actually receive one, and it hardly seems likely to happen any time soon. So, what was I to do? Start my own travelling book project, of course. I thought, perhaps, by limiting what could actually be put in each journal, it could change hands at a quicker pace than most; since I have a food blog, I thought, well then, recipes should be the focus.
So, the 1000 recipes project is born: I will send journals to anyone willing to participate, and you will fill them with your favourite recipes--your mother's favourite cookie, your super secret goulash, the thing that you fed to your ex that sent him/her to the ER--and anything else you'd like to embellish in them. You then send the book on to someone else who will do the same. Once the book is filled, mail it back to me and I'll compile all the pages and recipes online. There are a few rules, but over all, I think it wil be fun.
I am planning on sending a couple of journals out at a time. My hope is that the books will indeed return to me, and once I've published all the pages on this blog, I'd sell the books via an online auction site or through here and take the proceeds from their sale and donate it partly to a local food bank, and at Saffron's excellent suggestion, to something involving tsunami-earthquake relief . Since I have no idea what that would actually entail, I'll have to get back to you on that, but that is indeed, the wish.
So c'mon now, kids, join the fun! E-mail me or let me know how I may contact you in the comments section below.

Im interested!
And I am thinking... long term... money could be sent to the victims of Tsunami, since this project started up around the time it happened. Just a thought!
